OVERVIEW
Before the 2018 - 2019 school year, the new Student Government administration wanted to completely rebrand the logo and image of SG.

who we are
Undergraduate Student Government is the official representative of all undergrad students attending UC. Student Government acts as a liaison between the University administration, governmental authorities, and the student body.

so, student government represents the students, but what represents student government?
ideating
The President wanted to rebrand SG into something that was well known across campus. SG elected officials have a huge impact on students and their experience on campus, yet very few students know what SG does.
This was partially because a strong brand did not exist for SG. There was a logo but it was not meaningful nor memorable.
refinement
I utilized the front steps of Tangeman University Center. Similar to the form of the old logo, TUC has a pillar structure. TUC houses the Student Senate, where Student Government holds open meetings every Wednesday.
TUC is located in the center of campus and is utilized by students of all majors. We determined TUC is a strong visual representation of SG and those it serves.
the ripple effect
As defined by the Dictionary,
a ripple effect is a series of things that happen as the result
of a particular action or event. Similarly, this is what Student Government aims to achieve.
Every new initiative completed
by Student Government should cause a ripple of change throughout campus.
I incorporated this idea into the branding by using rings rippling out from one center point. These rings became an asset to the brand. I use them on internal and external SG documents, as well as signage in the SG office.
